Solitary bees are nothing short of extraordinary! Imagine—a dazzling array of 200 unique species, each living independently without colonies, queens, or honey production like their honeybee and bumblebee cousins. Their daily mission? To pollinate flowers and quite literally keep our world alive. It’s awe-inspiring to realize that only the females take on the monumental tasks of building nests and gathering pollen and nectar, while males exist solely to ensure the next generation.
These gentle marvels are remarkably non-aggressive, with stings so mild—or even absent—that they pose no threat at all. How incredible is it that such delicate beings play such a vital role in maintaining the beauty around us?
From every corner of humanity—single-parent families to bustling multi-generational homes—let’s join together in heartfelt gratitude for these tiny guardians. Let’s honor them by building welcoming bee hotels or safe havens, especially as their natural shelters like old trees and hollow stems vanish amidst new construction. What an amazing way to give back to those who quietly sustain our world!

Your workshop will be led by
Emma Adreou who is the director of crafts at Cyprus Art Retreat.
Emma has a natural ability to simultanoeously lead groups of varying experience and ages.

No more bored kids or disconnected moments-our workshop sparks laughter, teamwork, and pride in creation. Watch grandparents and grandkids collaborate on projects they will treasure forever! Experience a day in the picturesque Agioi Vavatsinia, located in the Larnaca mountains along the official Larnaca Bee Route.
This program offers a unique opportunity for both adults and children to connect with nature and understand the crucial role that bees play in our ecosystem.

The workshop provides a hands-on experience where older participants, together with their younger children, can assemble a bee hotel and personalize it with decorations. Whilst the youngest are engaged in drawing a Bee.

This experience boosts creativity, develops skills for solitary bees conservation, and builds lasting memories while raising environmental awareness.Join us for an educational and enjoyable day!

How can you ignite your family’s creativity and make a real difference for our planet? Imagine starting with simple household scraps and ending up with a true masterpiece! Our workshops on recycling paper and making charcoal are more than just classes—they’re gateways to unlocking valuable skills, empowering you to turn everyday waste from your home, garden, or office into something truly extraordinary.
Creating new paper and art charcoal at home is not only easier than working from raw materials but also so much better for the world around us. By recycling paper and making your own charcoal, you’re protecting precious trees and forests, conserving water and energy, cutting down on pollution and greenhouse gases, reducing landfill waste, supporting sustainable development—and keeping the natural cycle of renewal alive.
The possibilities are endless: recycled paper can become notebooks for your thoughts, craft paper for your projects, tissues for comfort, napkins for gatherings—even packaging like pizza boxes or newsprint. Every single effort matters. Together as families at Cyprus Art Retreat’s Family’s Creativity workshops, let’s transform small actions into powerful change—for ourselves and our planet!

The first use of man-made birdhouses in history was around the 15th - 16th century. In Eastern Europe, birdhouses were built for sparrows and swallows during the pre-Ottoman period. They were made of bricks, tiles, wood, stone and mortar.there is a long established.
Unfortunately, in the bird world, there aren't always enough holes to go around. That's where birdhouses (also known as nest boxes) come in. They provide valuable homes for many birds and wonderful viewing opportunities for birdwatchers.
