Summit the 4 highest peaks in Cyprus!!
We offer a variety of hikes and treks on routes that explore some of the most remote and picturesque mountains and valleys across the entire island of Cyprus.
The hikes range from half-day or full-day adventures in the regional mountains to the highest point of the Troodos mountain range.
Our routes traverse farmlands, orchards, vineyards, forests, mountain villages, rugged coastlines, and historic castles.
They take in the four tallest peaks on the island – Kionia (1,447 metres), Papoutsa (1,554 m), Madari (1,613 m), and Chionistra (1,952m) -- the highest point of the Troodos range.
The shorter hikes originate from our lodge in Agioi Vavatsinias, strategically positioned to offer immediate access to the surrounding natural beauty. Each hike is expertly led by our seasoned guide, ensuring that every outing is informative and enriching.
We take care of all aspects of your visit to Cyprus, starting with airport pickups and including transfers to and from the hiking trails, maps and GPX files of the routes, comfortable accommodation at our lodge and all meals.
Knowing that many hikers and trekkers wish to avoid the island’s crowded tourist sites, we offer an off-the-beaten-track exploration of parts of Cyprus that remain a mystery even for many locals.
We can also tailor-make a hiking or trekking programme for you and your group, based on what area or kind of terrain you would like to explore.
Below is a sample of the types of hikes we offer. There are plenty more. Contact us with some details of your ideal hike or trek and the time of year you will be in Cyprus. We will then craft an exciting itinerary for you based on your listed criteria.
Meet Our Guide
Bryan loves trails and exploring them with fellow trekkers. During his many, many years as a trail runner/trekker, he has explored thousands of trails – in his native South Africa, in India and Thailand, and in France, Spain and other parts of Europe. But it is in Cyprus where Bryan has focused his love of the trails and is one of the few people with intimate knowledge of all the tracks that crisscross the island, north and south, west and east. Bryan will help you get lost in the wonders of the natural world – but never lost on the trails.

The Four-peaks Challenge
On this multi-day guided trek we tackle the four highest peaks in Cyprus, one day at a time.
We start with Kionia (1423 metres high), followed by Papoutsa (1538 metres), Madari (1,613 metres, and end at the highest peak on the island Mt Olympus/Chionistra (1952 metres).
We transport you to and from the trails each day from our base in the traditional Cypriot mountain village of Agios Vavatsinias, where we accommodate and feed you during the entire trek.
Our Itinerary (very flexible depending on your preferences)
Day 1. Lefkara Dam to Kionia Peak (20km, elevation gain +1,303m)
This very picturesque hike takes us from the reservoir below the village of Lefkara to the picnic area at Kionia. We follow a jeep track that skirts the reservoir for about 5 km before it veers off into the forests, climbing gradually into the mountains.
Sights along the way include ancient olive groves, the deserted farming settlement of Kypravasa, and a welcome water fountain at Vrisi tou Petri. The last 6km up to the Kionia Picnic site is a steep climb on a single-track trail with magnificent views of the coast in the distance.
Day 2. The Appis Trail and Papoutsa Peak (19 km, +900m)
This section winds through remote mountain areas of Cyprus, starting with the Appis trail and then traversing the awe-inspiring Papoutsa peak (altitude 1538m). The Appis trail is arguably one of the most scenic in Cyprus while Papoutsa peak is reached after hiking along a dramatic ridge that runners use to train for sky running races. Along the way we pass through the picturesque mountain village of Palaichori, where we will pay a short visit to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour, an early 16th-century chapel known for its complete post-Byzantine murals.
Note: Papoutsa can be challenging in bad weather, so we will check the forecast in advance.
Day 3. Agros to Platania, including Madari Peak (18 km, +750 m)
We start in the village of Agros, known for an annual festival celebrating the Damascene roses that grow wild in the area, hike along village tracks and the Teisia tis Madaris trail to the Madari fire lookout and its panoramic views of large areas of Cyprus. From here we take the Doxa trail to the Adventure Mountain Park in Kyperounda, traversing the Madari Peak (altitude 1,613 metres) along the way. From the Adventure Mountain Park we follow the E4 trail to the Platania picnic area, passing through a sprawling enclosure that houses a herd of Moufflon, the Cyprus mountain goat.
Day 4. Platania to Mount Olympus/Chionistra (18km, + 1100m)
The final day of our adventure takes us up the E4 hiking trail, which passes through an area of lunar-type landscape before entering the vast pine forests that cover the Troodos mountain range.
On our way to the peak of Mount Olympus, we hike along sections of the beautiful Atalante and Artemis trails, that offer panoramic views of the entire mountain range.
On reaching the peak, it feels as if we have left civilization far behind and have entered the land of the clouds.
Minimum stay for this trek is 4 nights, min 2 people. Eur 150 pp per day,

We also offer shorter or longer treks and hikes, ranging from one-day to as many you want.
Some possibilities:
1. Around Agioi Vavatsinias Village (15/21 km)
We follow jeep tracks and single-track trails that wind through the mountains surrounding Agioi Vavatsinias, your main base for this multi-day adventure. Along the way we will pass fruit orchards, tomato fields, fig trees, pomegranates, and vineyards. Numerous viewpoints offer sweeping vistas of the mountains and the plains that stretch all the way to the Mediterranean Sea.
The route is shorter than the others we are proposing and will serve as an introduction to the type of terrain hikers can expect during the rest of the week.
2. Akamas Adventure Trail (20km, +400 m)
Welcome to the beautiful Akamas Peninsula, one of the jewels of Cyprus. Set in a national park, the area is very popular with locals and tourists alike because of its breathtaking views, turquoise seas, and rich birdlife.
Our route takes us to numerous lookout points, which offer panoramic views of all sides of the peninsula. We start at the Aphrodite Beach Hotel and end at the Aphrodite Baths, which is steeped in myth and mystery and well worth a visit after the hike.
3. Around Kantara Castle (+-15km, +300m)
Kantara Castle in the Kyrenia mountain range (north Cyprus) is the most remote and arguably the most awe-inspiring ancient edifice on the island.
It is one of three castles built on the island during the reign of English king Richard the Lionheart (1191) when he fought against the island's ruler, Isaac Komnenos. St Hilarion castle near Kyrenia has been restored and is a major tourist site, but Kantara, we believe is the most authentic of the three.
An out-and-back route from the castle eastwards allows stunning views of the castle, the mountains that surround it, and the plains far below that stretch to the sea. Because it is an out-and-back option, hikers can go as far –or near – as they like before turning and heading back to the castle.
Cyprus is criss-crossed by beautiful trails, so there are endless options for hikes and treks. Let us know your ideal hike/trek and we will tailor-make an adventure for you and your group.
